Summer is a wonderful time to visit Aspen with children. Free events, great lodging deals and healthy outdoor activities and food choices inspire children to connect with the outdoors and their families. Summer camps for kids in Aspen cater to a variety of interests including art, nature, theatre, history, farming and adventure.
Here we have highlighted two great day camps – we will post more in the days to come.
1. Aspen Day Trippers
Started by Alan, Aspen Day Trippers is an adventure day camp for kids in Aspen, Colorado, that offers biking, camping, bouldering and climbing, and rafting and ducky adventures.
Aspen Day Trippers is about education, coaching and socialization … Teaching kids how to safely learn new skills, how to interact in a group and make new friends, and how to build self-esteem by creating goals and accomplishing new skills. ADT activities are a means for achieving these goals.
Aspen Day Trippers focuses on small group experiences. My philosophy behind the camp is that each staff member make a connection with every child. It is that connection that builds a trusting relationship— important as your child explores the mountain environment.
Cost Daily rate, $130 per child, certain activities are an additional charge.
2. Aspen Snowmass Day Camp
Broken up by age group, day campers enjoy activities like swimming, fishing, skateboarding, crafts, golf and biking. Camps run from 8am–4pm, and start at $144/day.
On Fridays campers are treated to theme days like Tie-Dye Day, Mad Scientist Day, and Super Hero Day (design your own cape and celebrate local heroes at the fire department).
Friday Road Trips get kids out of town for local day trips including the Glenwood Hot Springs Pool, a visit to Reudi Reservoir, and an adventure to nearby Marble, Colorado.
